This is our third year of raising grass-fed lamb.  We are taking the same management approach with the sheep as we are with the cattle.  Pastured-raised lambs have all of the benefits of grass-fed beef so if you haven’t tried it or don’t eat lamb we hope to bring it to your home.  Our lambs are raised naturally on grass and mother’s milk-no artificial hormones, steroids or unnecessary antibiotics, that’s why they taste so good.

 



Our flock is complimentary grazers to the cattle so they eat what the beef won’t.

 

We raise Katahdin hair sheep, developed in the United States.  This breed is hardy, adaptable, and low maintenance.  They produce superior lambs that are naturally lean, meaty and consistently offer a mild flavor.  Ewes have exceptional mothering ability and lamb easily.  Katahdin’s are ideal  for grazing.   In cold weather, they grow a very thick winter coat, which then sheds during warm season.  Their smooth hair allows them to tolerate heat and humidity well.  Katahdins are docile and easy to handle and we have developed a special fondness for them.

                 
Live weight of a mature ewe ranges from 120 to 160 pounds.  An older ewe usually has twins and occasionally produces triplets.  The birth weight of twins is about 8 pounds.
